Sprinkler Irrigation
Sprinkler irrigation is the method of applying water to a controlled manner in that is similar to rainfall. The water is distributed through a network that may consist of pumps, valves, pipes, and sprinklers. Irrigation sprinklers can be used in agriculture for irrigating crops, residential for lawns, parks and gardens, and industrial usage for dust control.
Benefits of Sprinkler irrigation:
- Rain gun irrigation water dissolves the nitrogen in the air (Air has 78% Nitrogen) and gives to soil, thereby adding nutritive value to soil. This increases the yield.
- Reduces pest and insects attack as they get washed away during rain gun irrigation.
- Uniformity of irrigation is ensured, better than the best laser leveled field. This also results in good crop from every patch of land.
- In flood irrigation, we irrigate and if it rains the next day, water logging is there which damages the crop. However with rain gun irrigation, if it rains the next day, no such damage.
- Another benefit of rain type irrigation is that it leaches salts down beyond the root zone. Theses salts accumulate throughout the soil profile and inhibit plant growth. These salts get flushed, and help plants grow.
- It saves water by almost 50% than flood irrigation. With same amount of water, double area can be irrigated.
Cares to be taken:
- Excessive rain will cause the soil erosion in the field, will loosen roots and crops will fall down. Use Diffuser of Rain gun to break the droplet size. Nozzles are interchangeable, buy complete set to be used as per crop stage requirement.
- Rain gun stand should be held firmly in ground, to avoid falling of same due to water accumulation after the irrigation starts. It will also avoid damage to Rain gun.
- Rain gun must be operated in early morning or late evening to avoid drifting of irrigation due to high wind speed during day time.
- Use the rain gun for half time only when the same is operated as half circle, and for quarter of time when operated at corners.
- When the crop is at the flowering stage, do not use rain gun as it may affect the further development of food material from the flower.
- If the crop is at the harvesting time, rain gun must not be used. It may cause spouting of food grains in the field itself.
